General InformationParkingSUNY Upstate Medical University operates the following parking areas for visitors: A new parking garage, across from University Hospital, and “E” Lot, next to the Regional Oncology Center. There are open lots at University Health Care Center and at the Institute for Human Performance. Limited metered parking is available on Elizabeth Blackwell Street near University Hospital, and along Irving Avenue near Weiskotten and Silverman Halls and the Health Sciences Library. Visitors to Weiskotten Hall may wish to park at one of the public garages on Irving or S. Crouse avenues. For information on monthly garage parking passes, call the parking office at 315-464-4801 Food and CoffeeCafé 750, on the second floor of University Hospital, is open daily from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., with dinner available until 8 p.m. Other food venues:
Off campus, the University Hill area has a wide variety
of restaurants, fast food and coffee shops along LodgingSeveral area hotels and motels offer reduced rates for families of University Hospital patients. The Ronald McDonald House, 1027 E. Genesee St., 315-476-1027, offers lodging for parents/guardians of hospitalized children. The Sarah House, 100 Roberts Ave., 315-475-1747, offers modest lodging to adult patients and their families for a small donation. University Hospital offers Rest Easy, special overnight housing arrangements for patients and families who must travel 50+ miles for early morning procedures. After 6 p.m., contact the hospital operator, 464-5540/877-464-5540, and the social worker on call will assist with your lodging.
GasThere are several gas stations on Erie Boulevard East and South Salina Street. Gifts and FlowersA gift shop, managed by Upstate Advocates, is located in the lobby of University Hospital. A small medical bookstore is located on the first floor of the Campus Activities Building. There are many shops in the University Hill area along South Crouse Avenue and Marshall Street.
